QUINCY NATIVE BRINGS ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI PRODUCTION TO AREA

QUINCY, Ill. – Messenger of Peace is a new theatrical portrait of Francis of Assisi by Franciscan Friar Robert M. Hutmacher, OFM. A Quincy performance will take place on Monday, October 14th at 7:00 pm in St. Francis Solanus Church at 17th and College Streets. Additional performances will be held throughout the state of Illinois.
The 90-minute production consists of ten scenes, each of which conveys the story of a significant person whose life was radically changed by Francis. Based on 13th century chronicles of people who lived with or encountered him personally; this is a very insightful, intimate experience of the saint. The play presents the saint’s powerful message of reconciliation, which these artists feel is needed more than ever in our contemporary world.
Actor Luca Tironzelli of Perugia, Italy will do the story telling. Music will be performed live by renowned Sator Duo also of Perugia: Paolo Castellani, violin, and Francesco Di Giandomenico, classical guitar. Music and stories are enhanced by rear screen projection of images created for Messenger of Peace by Tim Leeming of Oak Park, IL. The script and music are creations of Friar Robert Hutmacher, OFM.
