Youth Chorus Auditions Singers for 2021-22 Season
Providing an outstanding choral education program since 1995, the Quincy Area Youth Chorus is the region’s premier music organization for young voices. Students throughout the Tri-State region come together to share their love of music and singing, and through expert guidance, the QAYC helps them find their voice!
As the group prepares for the 2021-22 season, it is inviting new members to join them. Children in grades three through 12 are invited to audition. Accepted singers perform as an ensemble at two of their own concerts and sometimes join the Quincy Symphony Orchestra and Adult Chorus for larger works.
Auditions for the QAYC are Saturday, May 15, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church. QAYC auditions are age-appropriate and child-friendly. Children should prepare a song they enjoy singing. Call the Quincy Symphony office, 217-222-2856, to sign up for an audition time. Additional information is available at www.qsoa.org.
QAYC is a performing and educational outreach program within the Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association. QAYC supplements school and church choral training with focused preparation and performance of excellent treble chorus literature.
QAYC includes girls, and boys with unchanged voices, and consists of two performing groups: The Kinderchor for the younger singers is directed by Amy Fairchild and the Concert Choir for older members is directed by Paul Shelor. Rehearsals are held either on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons. Tuition is $60 for the season (August-April) and no child is denied based on financial need.
